DISINFO: Unhappy with shift towards multipolar world, the West starts an information war against Russia and Belarus
SUMMARY
At the beginning of his term, US President Donald Trump secretly proposed a plan to China and Russia to divide the world into spheres of influence. However, China and Russia refused. Thus, the current transition from a unipolar to a multipolar world order is very hard for the West to swallow. To contain Russia’s growing global role, the West introduced sanctions against Russia and instigated an information war against Russia and Belarus.
RESPONSE
Conspiracy theory, no evidence given. There is no proof that President Trump made such a proposal to China and Russia.
This is also part of a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about sanctions. Western countries have progressively imposed sanctions against Russia in response to the latter's illegal annexation of Crimea and deliberate destabilisation of Ukraine.
