DISINFO: US embassy demands Ukraine adopts a law introducing censorship

The new media law, which the US Embassy is demanding to adopt, is designed to finally introduce censorship in Ukraine. One must understand that democracy is the opinion of licensed democrats, and they do not tolerate dissent.

The US does not demand to adopt the new media law. The US embassy in Ukraine supported the new media law as a progressive one. Moreover, the US is ready to cooperate with Ukraine in countering disinformation and developing the capabilities of public broadcasting in Ukraine.
The law does not introduce censorship. It is designed to improve media legislation in Ukraine and to facilitate transparency of the media sector, and "to bring Ukrainian media legislation in line with the current level of development of the industry, technology, and current challenges."
Ukrainian media watchdog "Detector.Media" specifies that the new law "proposes to improve property transparency, protect children, define rules for the media during the war, and to introduce co-regulation." It also proposes to expand the list of media by including not only TV channels, radio stations, and providers, but also the press, online media, social networks, and OTT services.
