DISINFO: US goal is not the defence of Ukraine, but the balkanisation of Russia
SUMMARY
[During Prigozhin's rebellion], for the first time, Ukraine had a real chance to inflict a heavy blow on the Russian forces and to turn the tide of confrontation. If Kyiv had attacked it could have won not a battle, but the conflict, yet the Ukrainians did not.
This opportunity was not taken because it is not Kyiv which commands the Ukrainian forces, but Washington, in whose scale of interests the “balkanisation” of Russia is more important than the Ukrainian victory. This episode shows us unequivocally that for the US, the real goal is not the defence of Ukraine, but the wearing down of Russia and the destabilisation of Europe.
RESPONSE
Pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative equating Ukraine to a US puppet state and accusing the US of an allegedly belligerent and hostile anti-Russian agenda aimed at encircling and destroying Russia.
The West, including the US, supports Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter Article 51, to defend against Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
On 24 June 2023, Evgeni Prigozhin and his mercenary forces from the PMC Wagner seized one of the Russian military’s key bases in the south of the country before proceeding north to Moscow. However, the rebellion was dramatically called off.
As HRVP Josep Borrell said:
''The most important conclusion is that the war against Ukraine launched by Putin, and the monster that Putin created with Wagner, the monster is biting him now. The monster is acting against his creator. The political system is showing its fragilities and the military power is cracking. So, this is an important consequence of the war in Ukraine''.
Ukrainian officials greeted the short-lived rebellion across the border with caution and hope, as Kyiv’s troops continued to probe Russian defences for weaknesses and reclaim occupied territory.
Ukrainian deputy defence minister Hanna Maliar said Ukraine’s counteroffensive had liberated 130sq km (50.1sq miles) by June 26, a gain of 17sq km (6.6sq miles) compared with a week earlier.
Ukraine had also launched new offensives north and south of Bakhmut, Maliar said, in Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Yahidne, Klishchiivka and Kurdyumivka, reinforcing a flanking action that began in mid-May. Ukrainian troops advanced 1-2km (0.6-1.2 miles) along these new axes, she said.
Read similar cases claims that Ukraine lost its independence and is under external control, that the West has made Ukraine its colony and is using Ukrainians as cannon fodder, that the West is destroying Ukrainian statehood and its military forces, that Ukraine is only a hammer to hit Russia with for the West, and that Foreign participation in the Prigozhin rebellion is indisputable.
