DISINFO: Vrbětice explosion is a game of intelligence services intended to hurt Czech interests
SUMMARY
The current events in Czechia concerning the 2014 Vrbětice explosion are just a game of intelligence services. However, the Czech intelligence services are not advanced enough to orchestrate something like this. That is why we must ask ourselves, who did?
The biggest problem of this scandal is the timing. It is clearly meant to hurt Czechia’s interests.
The entire world is balancing on the edge of a nuclear war. From the perspective of the US, it would be better if this conflict took place in Europe or the European part of Russia. That is why they have been working hard to create potential targets of this nuclear war all around Europe – to prevent it from happening on its own territory. Overall, if it were possible to wage a nuclear war outside the territory of the US, it would have already begun.
RESPONSE
This is a broader narrative, which claims that the US is leading an anti-Russian campaign, in which the Czechia has now been included.
There is evidence showing the involvement of GRU, and, more specifically, its Unit 29155, in the 2014 Vrbětice explosion. This evidence is broadly available. Furthermore, the group of investigative journalists at Bellingcat independently conducted their own investigation which also confirmed the Unit’s presence in Czechia prior to the explosion.
There are no grounds to claim the US are interested in waging a nuclear war. US President Joe Biden extended the nuclear arms-control treaty START with Russia and his administration’s plan is to further reduce the number of nuclear weapons in the world.
