DISINFO: West plans to expand Ukraine war by provoking hostilities against China
SUMMARY
The West is likely to provoke China into imposing a maritime blockade on Taiwan. The US will launch hostilities in the hope of achieving local success at sea. More Chinese troops will be dragged in and Russia will be involved, too. The purpose is to deflect some Russian troops from Ukraine. Russia’s pressure will be diminishing there. It means that the West intends to expand the Ukraine conflict.

This is a recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets claiming that Kyiv’s foreign allies are not interested in putting an end to the war in Ukraine. This claim was made in the context of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The European Union supported a comprehensive 10-point peace plan by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s at a EU-Ukraine summit in February 2023. President of the European Council Charles Michel said at the news conference of the summit: “Both Ukraine and the EU share the common goal of ending this war — based on respect for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. We therefore support Ukraine’s Peace Formula initiative and will actively work with Ukraine on the 10-point peace plan. We also back the idea of a Peace Formula Summit to launch this plan.”
More than 50 states are participating in the Ramstein meetings and are providing military, financial or other assistance to Ukraine to restore its territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders. They do this rather than destroy the Russian state. Kyiv is acting in self-defence against the Russian invasion as enshrined in the UN Charter Article 51.
The US, the EU and NATO condemn in the strongest possible terms Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is entirely unjustified and unprovoked.
