DISINFO: Western countries need the war in Ukraine for their arms industries
SUMMARY
Western countries, the EU and US, play hypocritical games, because they finance war instead of peace, poverty reduction programmes or humanitarian and positive actions. Their money doesn't contribute to the development of the countries most in need; instead, it funds war. Today, the deadly conflict between Russia and Ukraine can be swiftly brought to an end. Ukraine alone cannot resist Russia. The war continues only because France and other European countries and the US help Ukraine. If this aid ends, the war ends. Western leaders don’t want peace, otherwise they could achieve it quickly. They create wars all around the world because they are needed by their arms industries.

Recurrent pro-Kremlin narrative about the collective West being responsible for the war in Ukraine as well as other wars around the world to back their arms industries. This attempt to frame Ukraine and its European backers as uninterested in “peace” is part of a wider campaign to promote Russia’s terms for a negotiated settlement that cements the illegal annexation of Ukrainian territory.
The implied concept of this narrative is that might makes right and international law does not apply.
Since Russia launched its large-scale invasion of Ukraine, European leaders have been calling for a just, lasting peaceful solution respecting international law to hostilities (see here and here), but Russia has been averse to this.
As stated by EU leaders, the European Union supports the key principles and objectives of Ukraine’s Peace Formula. Any initiative for a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in Ukraine must be based on full respect for its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.

Finally, it is not true to state that Western countries, and more specifically the EU, do not contribute to aid for development and poverty reduction programmes. The EU is the largest donor of development aid in the world as well as the biggest contributor of climate finance. It takes various political actions to reduce poverty and offers grants to developing countries.
