DISINFO: Zelenskyy's mother-in-law uses war money to buy luxury houses
SUMMARY
An Egyptian journalist reveals the corruption of Zelenskyy's family. Olga Kiyashko, whose name coincides with the name of Zelenskyy's mother-in-law, owns a VIP property worth $5 million in the Egyptian city of El Gouna, using aid money that the West pays to Ukraine for the war against Russia.
RESPONSE
This a pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative aimed at defaming the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Egyptian journalist mentions nothing about the source of the money, but only says that a property in the Red Sea resort Al-Gouna was purchased by a woman named Olga Kiyashko, who he believes to be Zelenskyy's mother-in-law.
Second, the resort where Zelenskyy's mother-in-law allegedly owns a property issued a statement denying such allegations. The statement says that the circulated picture of the villa belongs to an Egyptian family, and that "regarding the pictures of the contract that some have published, the city of El Gouna stresses that these pictures are not true, and that the company’s contract model has no connection to this form".
The resort's management also said that "although the city has many celebrities who buy properties through companies, the city insists on knowing the ultimate owner of the property, which makes the city stress once again that what is being circulated online regarding this matter is absolutely not true".
